The man was a passenger in a white GMC box truck from Harrison that broke down on Route 23 North by Route 287 around 5 a.m., Lt. James Macintosh said.
After the truck broke down, the passenger got out of the vehicle to examine it when the truck rolled backwards and over his body, Macintosh said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
