Pedestrian Kernita A. Caines, 29, hit first by vehicle driven by Sam John, 33, then hit again by Floyd Hercules, 51, in Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ

The officers learned Caines was crossing Route 27 when she was struck by a 2008 Acura MDX driven by Sam John, 33, of North Brunswick, which caused her to fall into the northbound lanes of the road, Rizzo said. Caines was then run over by a 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Floyd Hercules, 51, of Edison, Rizzo said.
