Five people injured after car crash with suspected drunk driver.
Officers are at the scene of a car crash with injuries along Lomas Boulevard under Interstate 25.
Five people were sent to the hospital in stable condition, according to an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman. He said that the crash happened as a result of a suspected drunken driver who was behind the wheel of a pickup truck.
The pickup truck seen at the crash site was not badly damaged, but a red sedan was seen with a mangled front end. All five victims, including two children, were riding in that sedan, police said.
The Albuquerque Fire Department said three trapped patients plus two children were sent to the hospital.
Police also said they took the driver of the pickup truck, a man, into custody.
They were dispatched around 9 p.m.
