Fatal I-25 suspect charged with multiple vehicular homicides, aggravated DWI

The complaint states Barber was found by deputies walking around the scene disoriented. DWI deputies believed Barber to be impaired. During a field sobriety test, Barber stopped and asked to be taken to a hospital.

Two passengers in the GMC SUV died on the scene, the other driver was taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital. Barber made his first appearance Monday on charges that include vehicular homicide.

 

Suspect in fatal I-25 crash is member of National Guard

A spokesperson for the New Mexico National Guard says he is a company-grade officer for them and they are cooperating with the investigation and Barber could also face legal action through the military justice system.
