Eastbound I-40 was closed at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Santa Rosa because of a double-fatal, multi-vehicle crash.

Arlington Couple Killed In Double Rear-End Collision OnI-40

SANTA ROSA, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico State Police say two people were killed when their car rear-ended a truck slowing to exit westbound Interstate 40 near Santa Rosa and then was itself rear-ended by a second truck. Those killed in the accident Monday afternoon were identified as 25-year-old Samuel Herrera and 24-year-old Katherine Herrera, both of Arlington, Texas. According to police, the crash is still under indication but alcohol, weather and road conditions were not believed to be factors.
