The Warren County Sheriff's office says 55-year-old John A. Avellino, of Clifton Park, was killed Friday when his motorcycle was southbound on Route 9N, crossed into the northbound lane at a curve in the road and was struck by a van.

BOLTON LANDING, New York — A motorcyclist has been killed and two other people have been injured in an accident in Bolton near Lake George.

The Warren County Sheriff's office says 55-year-old John A. Avellino, of Clifton Park, was killed Friday when his motorcycle was southbound on Route 9N, crossed into the northbound lane at a curve in the road and was struck by a van.

Authorities say another motorcycle heading into the accident debris then crashed. They say the driver, 57-year-old Keith VanVeghten, of Albany; and his passenger, 51-year-old Mary Hoyle, also of Albany, were taken to a hospital. The sheriff's office says their injuries were not life threatening.

The Americade motorcycle touring rally, which draws around 50,000 people every year to the Lake George area in the Adirondacks, was underway. It ends Saturday.
