One Person Dead After Saturday Night Crash in the Town of Maine

Officials say Robert Norris of Endicott died when his car crashed into a utility pole Saturday night on Route 26. His passenger Penny Barton of Maine was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

MAINE, N.Y. -- Broome County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a fatal crash in the Town of Maine.

Officials say Robert Norris of Endicott died when his car crashed into a utility pole Saturday night on Route 26.

His passenger Penny Barton of Maine was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing but deputies say speed and alcohol both appear to be factors in this crash.

Route 26 was closed down for several hours Saturday night as officials reconstructed the crash.
