A passenger in the vehicle, Eli M. Smoke, 26, was transported to Erie County Medical Center for leg and chest pain.
A car struck a barrier blocking a closed bridge on Meadville Road on the Tonawanda Reservation at some point . A passerby discovered the car at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, he said. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger was taken to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia for treatment. Their names have not yet been released. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
