Police say LaChance was driving near the Elmwood exit around 3 PM when he lost control of his car, crossing all lanes of traffic. They say his car went into the median and likely rolled several times before coming to a stop.

The car went across all of the traffic lanes when LaChance lost control, but no other cars were hit. He was thrown from his car and died at the scene.

Witnesses told police speed was a factor in the crash and authorities said Wednesday that LaChance lost control of the car before being ejected.
Town of Tonawanda Police say 37-year-old Jamie LaChance was killed in a rollover accident that shut down a portion of the I-290 East for about three hours Tuesday.
Police say LaChance was driving near the Elmwood exit around 3 PM when he lost control of his car, crossing all lanes of traffic. They say his car went into the median and likely rolled several times before coming to a stop.
LaChance was thrown from his car and died at the scene.
Investigators had to close down a lane as they conducted their investigation, causing backups along the I-290 East well into rush hour.
Though tragic, they tell us based on the car's path and the time of day, it's a miracle no one else was involved.
