Puppies rescued from crash in Steuben County

The crash happened Wednesday on Interstate 86 in the Town of Avoca, Steuben County. It's about 50 miles south of Rochester.

State Police say the driver, Emily Woodrum of Missouri was delivering the puppies to local pet stories. They say she was speeding in the passing lane and lost control. The box van went off the road, struck a ditch and overturned.

"There were cages that were secured in the vans, built into the vans, so that's how they were being transported,” Mortenson said. “I think it was a tough situation with the weather yesterday and they were lucky that the situation wasn't as bad as it could have been."
