West Haven PD officer Michael Doyle critically injured after motorcycle crash on Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley, New York
CT officer fights for life after Taconic crash
Doyle and about 25 other officers from multiple agencies were riding as part of a motorcycle training led by Yonkers police when the crash occurred in Putnam Valley, West Haven police said.
The group was riding south when a vehicle merged onto the parkway from Bryant Pond Road, forcing several of the officers to maneuver to avoid it. Two of the motorcycles hit each other, throwing Doyle to the ground, state police said.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
