2 Killed in Grisly Crash on Meadowbrook Parkway: Police

The victims, ages 22 and 30, both died after something caused their car to leave the roadway and hit a tree on the Meadowbrook State Parkway near the Hempstead Turnpike exit in Uniondale, according to state police. The force of the impact knocked over the tree and badly damaged the majority of the car. 

Police Investigating Fatal Overnight Crash On Meadowbrook State Parkway

Authorities said Miles struck the center median and then drove across the lanes of traffic, and hit a tree before stopping on the shoulder. Police believe speed played a role.

Two people were killed after a grisly crash that shut down a section of a Long Island highway early Monday morning just after midnight Sunday on the Meadowbrook State Parkway near the Hempstead Turnpike exit in Uniondale. 

As a trooper blocked lanes to divert traffic from the fatal accident, a marked New York State Police cruiser was hit by another driver.
