A collision at Route 303 and Palisades Center drive involving an ambulette and a minibus injured four and proved fatal for one person.

He said emergency responders had to cut both drivers from the vehicles, and that freeing the ambulette driver proved especially difficult because the vehicle was so mangled.

Pomona victim in fatal bus-ambulette crash identified

Clarkstown police said the man was Vincent Careccio, 48, of Pomona.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., and ambulette containing the driver and one passenger was entering Route 303 from the Palisades Mall, but collided with a minibus. The crash pushed both vehicles off of the road about 100 feet away from where they collided. The 48-year-old male passenger of the ambulette sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead after he was transported to the hospital. The driver of each vehicle and the two passengers in the minibus all had serious but non-life threatening injuries. Due to the extent of damage to the vehicles, the drivers were initially trapped and had to be extricated. We will add more detail to this story as investigation continues.
