Garbage Truck Crashes into Building in Yonkers

A garbage truck slammed into a building in Yonkers Monday evening, trapping the driver as the truck began leaking fuel, authorities say. It's not clear what caused the truck to crash into the commercial building at 192 Neperhan Ave. at about 8 p.m. Yonkers Fire Deputy Chief of Personnel Thomas F. Fitzpatrick Jr. said the truck driver had to be extricated. Building officials were also on scene because of the structural damage to the buidling, according to Fitzpatrick. Firefighters were working to shore up the building.
