Memorial grows where runner was killed in Cicero hit-and-run crash

A silver cardboard heart that reads "Summer + Michael forever babe" was laid on top of red roses. The heart leaned up against a new, large angel statue, placed along side a smaller statue that Debbie Artime and Mindy Blondin put in the yard after the crash.
Those mourning the death of 37-year-old Summer A. Rupert-Wozniczka have stopped at Lakeshore Road to leave flowers, notes and other items. Rupert-Wozniczka was jogging along the road when Vincent Carello drove into her and then fled the scene. Carello was charged Thursday with felony charges of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and driving under the influence of drugs, a speeding violation, unsafe tires, and two lane violations. According to law enforcement officers, Carello was intoxicated and under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash.
