Fourteen injured in Charlotte school bus crash

The Charlotte Fire Department says it happened around 9 a.m. on Briardale Drive at Brook Canyon Drove, just off of W T Harris Boulevard.

Crashed school bus driver says she swerved to avoid cat in road

Officials identified the driver as Latoeya Patton. She was hired by the district in March 2004. She told the police she swerved to avoid a cat in the road, which led to the crash.

The bus driver was traveling at 25 mph, which the crash report shows was the authorized speed limit.

Channel 9 spoke with the homeowner, Joseph Whitehead, who was home at the time. He was not hurt.
