According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, at around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Wanda Callaouway, of Lenoir, was driving south on U.S. 221 when a car in front of her stopped suddenly. She swerved to miss it and hit a vehicle driven by Charles Hutchins, of Forest City, and the guardrail.
Hutchins, along with a passenger, Kasey Whitesides, and an infant child was transported by EMS to McDowell Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Callouway was charged with failure to reduce speed.
