Gaston Co. teen killed when vehicle hits tree, flips over, troopers say

Troopers say her father, Michael Reid, was driving when the car ran off the left side of the road, hit a tree and went airborne overturning and hitting several more trees before coming to rest on the left shoulder of the road.

A Gaston County teenager was killed when the car her father was driving crashed into a tree on Sunday.

The crash was reported at 5 p.m. on Lowland Dairy Road in Mount Holly, according to the NC Highway Patrol.

Arielle Monet Reid, 18, died in the crash.

Troopers say her father, Michael Reid, was driving when the car ran off the left side of the road, hit a tree and went airborne overturning and hitting several more trees before coming to rest on the left shoulder of the road.

Arielle's six-year-old brother was riding in the back seat.

Her father and brother were both taken to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
