Two dead, one airlifted in Sunday morning crash

Two people died in a Sunday morning crash in Newton that involved a tractor-trailer. Police have not said what led up to the crash and say the investigation is ongoing. According to Newton police, the driver of the tractor-trailer was flown by Med Center Air to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Then the truck reportedly ran off the side of a road into a parked Scion before coming to a stop. The truck and a Toyota Yaris were driving in opposite direction on Highway 10, according to police.
