Amber Denise Basinger, 21, of Rockwell and who attended Jesse C. Carson High School, RCCC, and UNCC, died tragically Friday as a passenger in a two vehicle collision in Rockewell, N.C. Two others were injured in the collision between a 2015 red Ford Mustang and a Ford Explorer at the intersection of Old Beatty Ford Road and Rockwell Road. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m.

Amber Denise Basinger, 21, Rockwell, died Friday, May 29, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born May 14, 1994 in Charleston, S.C. Amber was an avid reader, especially of the Harry Potter series of books, and a lover of all music.
Amber Denise Basinger, 21, was riding in the passenger seat of 2015 Ford Mustang driven by 18-year-old Faisal Abdulrahman Al-Julaipi, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Rockwell Road and Old Beatty Ford Road, and drove directly into the path of an SUV driven by John Clifford Goodman, 44. The SUV smashed into the passenger side of the Mustang, killing Basinger at about 3:45 p.m. Al-Julaipi and Goodman were both treated for minor injuries, and Al-Julaipi was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign.
