An 18-year-old was taken to the hospital after crashing during a brief high-speed chase early Friday morning.

Jordan Burchett of Thomasville was injured in the crash around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of Guilford College Road and College Road in Jamestown.

Burchett was taken to Moses Cone Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Guilford County deputies said. Burchett had head injuries and was partially ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

Deputies said they tried to stop a vehicle that was speeding and driving recklessly on Business 85 near Vickrey Chapel Road in Greensboro. The car didn't stop, and the entire incident spanned 3 1/2 miles in just over 90 seconds, deputies said.

The chase itself lasted about 50 seconds, deputies said. Troopers estimated the car was going at least 100 mph when it crashed into a brick wall and rolled over.

Burchett's car couldn't handle a sharp turn, causing the vehicle to go through grass for about 600 feet before crashing, troopers said. A sign was carried about 150 feet from its original position.

Burchett will be charged with felony speeding to elude an officer, troopers said.
