Newsgathering partner the Mount Airy News reported the crash involved a single vehicle, and two passengers were trapped.

Pine Street accident claims one life

“We have one fatality and two pinned in the vehicle,” said county Emergency Services Director John Shelton as workers raced to free the two entrapped passengers. “It looks like they were all in their 60s.” He said one of the injured individuals was partially ejected from the car.
One person has died, and two are injured after a single-vehicle car crash in the 3000 block of East Pine Street (Highway 103) near Mount Airy, North Carolina. The accident occured around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 in Surry County. The two people injured were transported to Wake Forst Baptist Medical Center. Their conditions are not yet known.
