Fatal hit-and-run leaves man dead in Durham, police looking for driver

Durham police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run Saturday night involving a pedestrian. Around 8 p.m., a man was crossing Holloway Street near Adams Street when he was struck by a vehicle.

Man killed while crossing road in Durham identified

Police said 64-year-old Jerry Evans Armstrong was crossing Holloway Street near Adam Street when he was hit by a vehicle just after 8 p.m. Officers said the vehicle, that is possibly a silver Chevrolet Cruz, drove away from the scene on Holloway Street.

Police say the vehicle, which is possibly a silver Chevrolet Cruz, fled the scene and headed east on Holloway Street. The pedestrian, later identified as 64-year-old Jerry Evans Armstrong, of Durham, died at the scene.
