No injuries were reported, but it took workers most of Tuesday to clear the lumber from the road.

The accident occurred just after 7:30 a.m. on Atlantic Avenue near the intersection of Stillwell Court, according to Raleigh police accident report.

Michael Parker Woodruff, 62, of Raleigh was driving a 2003 Frontline truck owned by Diamond Hill Plywood in Darlington, S.C. Woodruff turned left onto Atlantic Avenue from Wolfpack Lane and was going uphill through a slight curve when his load of lumber began to shift and the flatbed started to sway, according to the accident report.

The vehicle turned over on its right side and ran off the road where it hit a stop sign. The load of lumber spilled off the back of the truck and scattered across the road and in residents’ yards, police reported.

Police reopened the road shortly after 4 p.m. after workers cleared the lumber.
