Investigation continues in four person fatality crash in Vinton County
The four people traveling in the passenger vehicle were fatally injured when their vehicle collided with the Rumpke trash truck. The Rumpke driver was not injured.
Crash kills 4 at Route 93 intersection
A Toyota vehicle was driving westbound on Route 56 just before 2 p.m when witnesses said it stopped at a flashing red light and pulled out in front of a Rumpke trash truck headed southbound on Route 93, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The Vinton County coroner identified the driver as a 55-year-old mother. Her teenage children, 18 and 19 years old, were in the backseat while the driver's 57-year-old sister was in the passenger seat.

The dead were identified today as Lisa R. Foerster, 55, of Athens, the driver; Lorraine E. Alsterberg, 57, of Oregon; Emma C. Hamel, 19, of Athens; and Thomas J. Hamel, 18, of Athens.
The Rumpke garbage truck driver, George S. Stout, 27, of Albany, was not hurt.
