One person seriously injured, transported to hospital, after chain-reaction crash involving 5 vehicles closes the Beechmont Levee.
Beechmont reopens after multi-vehicle crash snarls commute.
Beechmont Levee opens at Columbia Parkway.
The Beechmont Levee has been reopened after a five-car accident forced it close in both directions at Columbia Parkway for roughly four hours Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. on Beechmont Avenue between Columbia Parkway and Batavia Road, Cincinnati Police said. Police blocked Beechmont Avenue at Columbia Parkway and were diverting traffic away from the area.
Police said an eastbound car went left of center for an unknown reason and struck a westbound vehicle, which started a chain reaction of crashes.
The car, which created the five-car accident, then hit another westbound vehicle head on.
Police confirm that the driver of the eastbound car was seriously injured. Police said that it has the potential of being life-threatening and that the driver was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is in serious condition.
Hoffbauer said there were no other serious injuries.
Erica Behrens, 16, was one of the other people involved in the accident.
“I was driving in the far right lane on the Levee,” said Behrens. “There was a black truck going in the same direction as I was in the lane next to me. She was hit by another car and his car spun out in front of me and hit the front of mine.”
