Man dead after crash in East End.

A man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of Columbia Parkway and Bains Street Thursday morning.

A man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of Columbia Parkway and Bains Street Thursday morning.

Traffic Unit investigators said Eric Hodge, 27, was driving around 2:30 a.m. when his car ran off the road and struck a tree.

Hodge was transported to UC Medical Center, but died of his injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Crews shut down Bains Street and a lane of Columbia Parkway as officers assessed the scene. Bains Street reopened around 5:30 a.m.

Police said speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
