Identities released in Saturday's motorcycle, Jeep crash on SB I-71

Police said the crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. when the driver of a Suzuki motorcycle, Marc Vergona, 33, ran into the back of a Jeep Liberty on southbound Interstate 71 near mile marker 2.2.

Cincinnati police are investigating a crash that occurred on Saturday night that involved a motorcycle and a Jeep.

Police said the crash happened at about 9:15 p.m. when the driver of a Suzuki motorcycle, Marc Vergona, 33, ran into the back of a Jeep Liberty on southbound Interstate 71 near mile marker 2.2.

The driver of the Jeep, Stephanie Vanarsdale, 26, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, officials said.

Police said Vergona hit the jeep, hit the median barrier wall and then was thrown off his motorcycle.

Officials said Vergona sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Cincinnati Health Center.

Vergona is listing in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

Investigators said excessive speed and impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact the CPD traffic unit at 513-352-2514.
