According to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, three pickup trucks were involved in an accident in the 3000 block of State Route 73 in Bratton Township, Ohio, shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday.
According to authorities, Mark Maxwell, 52, was driving a Ford pickup traveling westbound on State Route 73, and Jason Lute, 30, and Chris Thompson, 36, were both driving pickup trucks traveling eastbound on the road.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle driven by Maxwell drove left of center and struck the vehicles operated by Lute and Thompson.
Troopers said as many as 10 people may have been injured in the crash.
A 5-year-old was airlifted to Cincinnati Children's Hospital; Mildred Thompson, 28, and Maxwell were airlifted to UC Medical Center with serious injuries.
Officials said the other occupants of the vehicles were transported to Adams County Regional Medical Center for treatment.
All three vehicles sustained substantial damage as a result of the impact, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation.
