A motorcyclist crashed into a guardrail Friday and died.

Ball is the staff division chief, whose duties included training, administrative and fire prevention functions, according to the city’s web page at www.cantonohio.gov.
It was about 6:50 p.m. when Canton Division Fire Chief Kerry Ball, 54, was riding his customized motorcycle to the north on Lawrence Road, and he departed the roadway and struck a guardrail. Ball was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation continues to determine the cause of this accident; check back for updates.
