The Summit County Medical Examiner is responding to a vehicle crash in Cuyahoga Falls, Akron police confirm. The incident happened near Rocky Brook Drive and Canyon Brook Drive. 

Woman dead in one-car Cuyahoga Falls crash

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio '€” A woman is dead and another is injured after an SUV slid off a road near Timber Top Apartments and crashed into a tree. A 22-year-old Akron woman was driving about 3:40 p.m. Cuyahoga Falls police said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash that led to the death of the 21-year-old passenger. The 21-year-old woman died at the scene. The SUV slid sideways and struck a tree on the passenger side of the car.

Akron woman admits crashing car, killing friend while drunk

AKRON, Ohio — An Akron woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to crashing her SUV while drunk in Cuyahoga Falls, killing her 22-year-old passenger. Jessica Francis, 23, pleaded guilty to second-degree felony aggravated vehicular homicide and drunken driving, a first-degree misdemeanor. July 31 on Canyon Brook Drive, west of Northampton Road, when she lost control of the SUV. The SUV slid sideways off the road and hit several trees, killing passenger Haley Hopkins, 22, of Akron. Francis' blood-alcohol concentration tested at .222, nearly three times the legal limit, according to Cuyahoga Falls police. She will be sentenced by Summit County Common Pleas Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands after a background check.

AKRON WOMAN, 21, KILLED IN CUYAHOGA FALLS CRASH; ANOTHER WOMAN INJURED

An initial investigation determined that a 22-year-old Akron woman was driving a 2011 Kia Soul and had Ms. Hopkins in the vehicle with her. The driver failed to control her vehicle, drove off the right side of the road, slid sideways and struck a tree on the passenger side, killing the passenger, the news release stated. The driver was transported to Akron General Hospital for unknown injuries.
