Driver injured, taken to hospital, after crashing in the westbound lanes of I-670 in Columbus while trying to travel eastbound.

A wrong-way driver was injured when police say he crashed his vehicle into a wall in the westbound lanes of Interstate 670, near Interstate 71 early Thursday morning.

Columbus police officers were alerted to the wrong-way driver at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. He was first seen driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-670 near Grandview Avenue, according to police.

By the time officers were able to locate the driver, he had traveled several miles.

The driver crashed the front end of his vehicle into a wall after losing control.

He was transported to an area hospital to be treated.

The westbound lanes of I-670 near I-71 were closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
