JayByuante McGrew-Bell, 2, killed, after he runs into a street at night, near an intersection in Columbus, and is struck by a car.

According to Columbus police, crash occurred at about 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Refugee and Noe Bixby roads.

According to police, 2-year-old JayByuante McGrew-Bell was hit when he ran into the path of a 2003 Jaguar.

Police say the child was transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the child the driver remained at the scene, according to officers.

It was initially reported by police that the driver left the scene on foot, but later determined that a witness may have chased the driver away.

No charges have been filed against the driver.
