1 Dead In Crash Involving Motorcycle In South Columbus

Attempting to avoid the collision, Salyer laid the motorcycle down and slid into the truck as well as another eastbound vehicle.

A man is dead after crashing into a tractor-trailer along Obetz Rd Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 1500 block of Obetz Rd. east of Lockbourne Industrial Drive around 4:07 p.m. Thursday.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Leo Salyer, 59, of Obetz was riding west on a motorcycle when he struck a tractor trailer that was making a left turn into the driveway of 1500 Obetz Road.

Attempting to avoid the collision, Salyer laid the motorcycle down and slid into the truck as well as another eastbound vehicle.

Salyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say that Salyer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
