1 Killed In Marion County Single-Vehicle Crash

Troopers from the Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Richland Township early Thursday morning.

Troopers responded to Newmans Cardington Road, east of Claridon Westfield Road, at about 6:22 a.m. on a report of a single-vehicle crash.

According to the report, a 2011 Cadillac CTS two-door driven by 50-year-old Charles E. Orewiler, of Marion, was traveling eastbound on Newmans Cardington Road when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, striking a tree. The vehicle rolled and Orewiler was ejected.

Orewiler was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner Dr. Marc Comianos. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
