Two people were injured in a helicopter crash in the area of Welch and Neel roads near the Union/Delaware county line Thursday afternoon. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene where a 2006 Rotorway International EXEC 162F helicopter crashed at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The crash triggered a fire of dried cornstalk clippings that spread across nearly three acres before being extinguished by local firefighters. The occupants, identified as 81-year-old Henry H. Brecher, of Columbus, and 50-year-old Todd M. Cramer, of Dublin, were injured in the crash. They were air-lifted by MedFlight to The Ohio University's Wexner Medical Center, according to OSHP. The victims sustained lacerations to the head and upper body. Their injuries were considered to be non life-threatening. John Van Gundy said he was tending to his cows when he and other farmers heard loud noises and saw black smoke. Van Gundy said he decided to run through the field to help the victims. Van Gundy said one of the men tried to get up, but he told him to lie down. "Then I saw the other gentleman. He was close to the plane, so the fire was pretty close to him, so I asked him if he could move, and he said, 'Well, maybe.' His leg was messed up so I picked him up and moved him 20 feet or so. I just talked to him and told him to sit still until the paramedics came," he said. According to Lt. Kevin Knapp, of the patrol, the victims indicated that they were the owners of the private helicopter.
