According to reports, Jackie Brooks, 60, of Seminole was working on his broken-down vehicle on the shoulder of the westbound lane just east of Chambers Road at 1:48 p.m. He was suddenly struck by a 19-year-old female driving a Hyundai sedan.

She said all the motorists on the road saw the man on the side and pulled as far away as they could to avoid him, but one driver did not see the man who was having car trouble.
