David Nickerson, 62, killed, after his car, traveling at a high rate of speed, leaves a county roadway near Claremore, and crashes into a utility pole.

A Claremore man died of injuries suffered in a Sunday afternoon crash, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

David Nickerson, 62, died at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at 12:53 a.m. Monday.

Nickerson was driving a car south on a county road about 2:05 p.m. Sunday in Rogers County about 2 miles east of Claremore at a high rate of speed when he lost control and hit a utility pole. He was not wearing a seat belt. He was flown to the Tulsa hospital where he later died.
