Grove woman dies after traffic accident

For an unknown reason, the vehicle departed the road, traveled about 426 feet, hit an embankment, went airborne and flipped multiple times, troopers said.
A Grove woman died Tuesday after a traffic accident in Delaware County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. About 2:55 p.m., Gertrude Ruth Lawhorn, 72, was driving a sport utility vehicle southbound on State Highway 10. For an unknown reason, the vehicle departed the road, traveled about 426 feet, hit an embankment, went airborne and flipped multiple times, troopers said. Lawhorn was pinned in the vehicle for about 10 minutes and had to be cut out of the seat belt, troopers said. Lawhorn was taken to a hospital where she died, troopers said.
