Pedestrian killed in crash along U.S. 97 in Redmond.

A 34-year-old Redmond man was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Sunday while crossing U.S. 97 in Redmond, according to the Oregon State Police.

Paul David Donlan walked onto a stretch of the highway just north of Southeast Veterans Way around 9:14 p.m., police said. A southbound semi-truck driven by 37-year-old Jason M. Johnson of Moxee, Wash. swerved but struck the man with one of its trailers, police said.

A stretch of the highway was closed off for several hours on Sunday night. Oregon State Police from the Bend Area Command office are continuing to investigate the incident. The Redmond Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Redmond Fire and Rescue and ODOT are assisting in the investigation.
