Driver dies when big rig flips on side along Oregon 58 east of Oakridge
Oregon State Police said in a news release that the driver, so far unnamed, was heading downhill in the westbound lane of Oregon 58 about 25 miles east of Oakridge about 3:25 a.m. when his truck failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline and the rolled onto its side.
The rig then slid across the eastbound lanes, hit a guardrail and an embankment before coming to a stop.
Oakridge crash victim identified
The crash occurred at about 3:25 a.m. when a westbound Freightliner tractor-trailer rig loaded with wood products failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline and then rolled onto its side, Oregon State Police said.
Huber reportedly lost control along Oregon 58 and the truck overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was using safety restraints. A dog that was riding in the truck survived the crash. The accident is under investigation.
