3 dead in 2-vehicle crash near Cave Junction, police says

Oregon State Police say three people have died in a vehicle crash on Highway 199 near Cave Junction. The Medford Mail Tribune reports two people died at the scene and a third died later at a local hospital. Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. The crash was reported just after 5:30 p.m. Bill Fugate reported that a Ford F-150 was on top of a sedan.

Police identify 3 who died in Cave Junction crash

26-year-old Joshua Gibson of Costa Mesa, California, was driving north Thursday afternoon with four passengers in a Buick sedan when he passed a car in a no-passing zone. The Buick collided head-on with a Ford pickup driven by 44-year-old Michael Nolan of Cave Junction. Three Buick passengers Christopher Burke, Claire Honsaker and Steve Stinson died at the scene or on the way to a hospital. Gibson was seriously injured and taken to a Portland hospital while Kean Krause was taken to a local hospital. 

Guilty plea entered in connection with fatal crash

Joshua Bruce Gibson, 28, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence of intoxicants, third-degree assault and fourth-degree assault.

Sentencing has been scheduled for July 14.
