Three people killed, seven seriously injured in 3-vehicle crash on Highway 97 south of Chemult

The crash was reported around 4 p.m. near milepost 230, south of the junction with state Highway 138, the turnoff to Diamond Lake.

Three dead after crash on US97

A Chevrolet Suburban was traveling south on US97 when the vehicle in front of them rapidly decelerated.  The driver of the Suburban, Andrew Castiricone (58) from San Carlos, CA, swerved into the northbound lanes striking a Toyota FJ Cruiser head-on.

Multi-vehicle crash near Chemult kills three people

The FJ Cruiser, driven by 43-year-old Ramsey Mohammed Mahmoud Shanbaky of San Mateo, California, hit the vehicle behind it, a Subaru, driven by 34-year-old Kevin Richard Smith from Medford. Another vehicle, a Lexus, driven by 63-year-old Robert Brian Anderson from Chico, California, sustained damage from the crash debris.
