Fatal Crash on US Hwy 26 near Milepost 18 -- Clatsop County
Oregon State Police responded to a single fatal motor vehicle crash on US Highway 97 near milepost 285. This incident occurred near the city limits of Midland. The investigation revealed a white 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser occupied by four, was traveling southbound on Hwy 97 near milepost 285, when the driver lost control. The vehicle rolled several times and came to rest in a ditch on the southbound side of the roadway. The right front passenger, identified as Jeffrey Lee Kuyper, at 52 of Central Point was pronounced deceased at the scene. The juvenile driver and two surviving juvenile passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Sky Lakes Hospital in Klamath Falls.
