A Mt. Angel man was killed and seven people were injured, three seriously, in a three-car crash early Sunday afternoon on Highway 20 near Santiam Pass, blocking the highway for close to two hours, Oregon State Police reported.

Man dead, many injured in Highway 20 crash

Just after 12:30 p.m., a Ford Focus lost control on a wet road and hit the guardrail on the south side of the highway, Oregon State Police officials said. The Ford went into the eastbound lane and struck a Honda Accord, which hit a Toyota SUV.
A multi-vehicle crash that involved a fatality closed both lanes of Highway 20 near Santiam Summit Sunday afternoon. The crash was reported just after 1 p.m. at milepost 81. At least one person died and multiple people were injured in the crash. Officials said there was no estimate as to when the road would open and there were no reasonable detours, so drivers should avoid the area or expect long delays.
