Preliminary investigation revealed a Ford Explorer, operated by Richard Russell (84) of Keizer, was turning left from Meridian Rd. onto Hwy 211 and pulled into the path of a Peterbilt semi-truck operated by Gerald Fritz (55) of Lebanon.

Russell died at the scene. His passengers — 83-year-old Bonnie Magoon of Keizer and 63-year-old Gary Gerstner of Garberville, California — were flown to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
