Jake Edward Weil of Warrenton remains in critical condition in a Portland hospital two days after he was hit by a car when crossing U.S. 101 near Gearhart about 3 p.m. Thursday.

The Oregon State Police said the crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Highway 101. Authorities say 20-year-old Jake Edward Weil, of Warrenton, tried to cross the highway to a coffee stand when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
Authorities say the 72-year-old driver tried to stop. She is now cooperating with the investigation, and the Oregon State Police says there is no evidence she was at fault.
Weil was taken by ambulance to a Portland hospital.
