Lumber mill worker killed in wood press accident in Mill City

A 33-year-old Mill City lumber mill worker was killed late Wednesday when a wood press he was repairing activated and crushed him.

Deputies investigate death at Mill City lumber mill

The 33-year-old, a married father of four daughters, grew up in the Santiam Canyon area. He was a capable and hard-working employee who had been with the company for more than 12 years, said Rob Freres, executive vice president of Freres Lumber.
Bryan Dodge, a millwright, was killed at about 11 p.m. at the Freres Lumber mill. The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death, along with Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
