Drivers killed in head-on crash near Woodburn

Deputies said there were no passengers in either vehicle. Deputies said Saturday would have been Sanders' 20th birthday.

The Sheriff's Office wants to remind the public that passing other vehicles on the road can be a dangerous maneuver. The pass must be completed within a reasonable amount of time, and the driver cannot exceed the speed limit.
Two people were killed in a head-on collision near Woodburn, Oregon, on French Prairie Road NE near Le Brun Road just before 7 a.m. Thursday. The drivers have been identified as 45-year-old Leora Casey of Sherwood and 19-year-old Kyle Sanders of Gresham. Investigators said Casey attempted to pass another vehicle in a passing zone as she headed southbound, but she was not able to get back into her lane in time and she crashed head-on into Sanders' northbound car. Casey's car caught fire following the collision. Witnesses tried to put out the fire but were unable to.
