Police Search For Driver In Fatal Hit-Run In Collingdale.

Delaware County authorities are searching for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Collingdale and then fled the scene.

Delaware County authorities are searching for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Collingdale and then fled the scene.

Collingdale police say the victim, 58-year-old Timothy McCaughan, was in the intersection of Spruce Street and Clifton Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck by an SUV.

According to police, a witness saw the driver stop, get out of the vehicle, make a comment, then get back into the SUV and speed off, heading south on Clifton Avenue.

The victim was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the driver is believed to have a close cut full beard, short curly hair, 6′ 2″ tall with a stocky build, possibly wearing red colored jacket.

The vehicle of interest in the crash is an early 2000’s model light colored Chevy Suburban, possibly light tan or gray, with rectangular shaped headlights. The vehicle may have damage to the orange plastic light assembly.
